All ventures begin with an idea, an idea springs from an objective and the objective invariably has a commitment to the future.  It is with this commitment to the quest for excellence in the field of education that Dhamangaon Education Society is running this School to aptly nurture and educate the blooming kids.

Dhamangaon Education Society during its journey from 1914 to 1974 had opened educational institutions right from Balak Mandir to collegiate level except the grades in the primary school. Therefore, with a view to bridge the gap between the two normal extremes of the educational set aaup, the Society in July 1974 opened the Primary School on lines parallel to the Convent and started imparting instructions to the students of standard I and II through Marathi medium.  Within next two years, based on the principle of natural growth, standard III and IV were added which thus evolved a full-fledged Primary School.  The school was named as Smt. Haribai Bhagchandji Prathmik Vidyalaya to commemorate the generous donations offered from time to time by M/s Jairamdas Bhagchand Firm.

In the year 1987, a spacious, airy, independent double storied building was constructed for the school on a plot measuring 12,500 Sq. Feet donated by Ramchand Bhagchand Trust.  The building was adequately equipped with the suitably designed desks and benches to ensure the comfort and convenience of the kids. The sections of I to IV class of the school are named after the great and illustrious personalities.  Presently, there are 2 sections of each class and the total student strength of the school is 517. The academic and other activities are neatly managed by 10 regular employees comprising teaching and supporting staff under the guidance of Mrs. Chanda Choudhari, the Head Mistress of the school.

The medical examination of the students under the Children Protection Scheme is a regular feature of the school. The findings are systematically recorded on the specially designed cards. The care is taken to correct the minor physical problems of the students in the school itself.  In order to maintain the total cleanliness and neatness, the facilities of nail cutters, combs, tooth powder, buttons etc are provided by the school and the students are indirectly trained to develop the sense of self-reliance in them.

The sustained and strenuous efforts of the teaching community of the school have witnessed many students to secure positions in the merit lists of the common examinations of fourth standard.  Similarly, a good number of students have excelled in the scholarship examinations and have qualified for scholarships.  Apart from these, the students are encouraged to participate in various activities organized by the leading external groups.  The staff members of the school too regularly participate in various academic activities, training programmes and refresher’s courses organized for them and come out with a winning edge.

It is a matter of great delight to mention that the ex- Head Mistress of the School, Mrs. Kalpana A. Bopche had the unique distinction of being the recipient of National Award, 2002   under the Human Resource Development Ministry’s Scheme of National Awards to Teachers.  The Award was presented to Mrs. Kalpana Bopche at the gracious hands of His Excellency, the President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam in the grand annual ceremony of Teachers’ Day on 5TH September 2003 at New Delhi.

The key aspects mentioned above explicitly speak of the efforts being taken by the school to boost up the morale of the students and develop and abound their personality.  We are thus satisfied that our efforts are fructifying and yielding the desired results.  Dhamangaon Education Society is thus pledged to spread and propagate the sacred cause of education.  Its vision mostly matches with the following words of Sister Nivedita.

“There is but one imperative duty before us today.  It is to help Education by our very lives
if need be – Education in the great sense as well as the little, in the little as well as in the big. “
